Nordic Reflections by Maimu Jõgeda

The music was composed during Maimu's studies and travels in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway from 2019 to 2023. On this album, you will find pieces inspired by Nordic folk music, along with two songs from my Estonian roots that perfectly fit the spirit of this album. Nordic Reflections is about fulfilling dreams, facing challenges, and finding hope and comfort in the stunning Nordic landscape. It explores the feeling of being away while longing to return, reaching home while questioning what home really means, and discovering home within oneself. All tracks are performed by Maimu Jõgeda and are her original compositions, except for tracks 3 and 11, which are folk songs arranged and sung by Maimu Jõgeda. "Õhtuvaikuse jõuab" is a Siberian Estonian folk song adapted from a 1923 recording featuring Linda Tsirk. "Joogilaul" is from Ruhnu Island and is adapted from a 1967 recording featuring Peeter Roosilaid.
