"I’ve always loved how mallsoft communicates a time and a place so well. Marley Station Mall was my mall. It was the first place I ever held a girl’s hand, where I’d go to Borders to read Kare Kano while laying down in the aisle, where I bought gifts for my friends around the holidays, where my friends and I would go to Suncoast to hang out, where I bought games at GameStop, where I learned how to buy clothes and how to shop, where I went with my grandmother to play at the inside play place when she was still alive. It’s where I’d go to sit in the massage chairs with my best friend and just talk.
Mallsoft brings me back there, and I hope it can bring you back there, too. It’s nostalgia, but it’s melancholic nostalgia.
Malls feel safe, crowded, full of people that are all around you but aren't necessarily paying attention to you, and that's kind of nice to feel alone in crowded spaces instead of feeling alone by yourself in your room.
I hope kids of future generations get to experience that feeling. I grew up as an online gamer on Runescape and Legends of Kronia and Diablo 2 and all kinds of text-based online games of the early internet, but there's something special about a mall and my time there as a kid."
