In March 2024 I was very curious about the subject "Music and AI". What is possible already and what isn’t possibe (yet)? Is it a help or a danger … for me, for music in general, for mankind? So I checked some state of the art software and online offers. Frankly I was rather disappointed with the results. In my ears all that I could create with the help of Artificial Intelligence was somehow boring or uninspired. But perhaps it was only the wrong man at the right buttons? Anyway, I put the whole "Music and AI" thing aside …
… until the first days of September 2024. I was suffering from Covid 19 again and somehow knocked out for a week. So I had plenty of time and started my investigations in the above mentioned direction again. And this time I was totally surprised and enthusiastic about the sounds my ears were allowed to listen to. What an amazing developement! Within not even half a year the progress was/is amazing! And I am sure it will go on and on.

Well I took some good old Chandelier classics and some new songs as well and asked the AI to extend the pieces at certain positions defined by myself. Sometimes there is only one extension to a song, sometimes two or three of them. So in order not to cause any confusion: The songs themselves were not altered in any way. Only some short passages in between were „composed“ (or „created“ or „calculated“ or … ?) by the AI supplementarily. By the way, the name of the AI is UDIO. What a tool!

I had a lot of fun with this online portal and I am very happy with the results. Of course I still can’t answer the question if AI is a curse or a blessing, but in the case of my test series it clearly was an inspiration to me.
