Beaches Waving by Matt Wilde
Following the release of his debut EP ‘Believe in Things’, Mancunian Pianist & Producer Matt Wilde returns with the second single in as many months, titled ‘Beaches Waving’, which follows up on the highly-impressive and J Dilla inspired, ‘Dilla Impresses Me’.
Matt’s latest release ‘Beaches Waving’ blends jazz and hip hop with its harmonically rich keys, improvised melodies and pocketed drums. Reflecting on the daily motion of our lives and the restorative qualities of nature, ‘Beaches Waving’ is reminiscent of sunny days and crashing waves of the beach which say “hello” from afar whilst we are all stuck inside. The track achieves an optimistic, playful outlook whilst offering moments of reflection and calm. The interplay between Matt Wilde’s upright piano and Natty Reeves’ guitar ebbs and flows like the changing of the tides as both artists improvise solos accompanied by Matt’s analogue synths and bass.
“I wrote this track thinking about being trapped inside and really badly wanting some restorative time on a beach. We couldn't do that due to lockdown, so I imagined a beach waving at me from afar! It’s been incredible working with such talented artists Natty Reeves (guitar) and Joe Luckin (drums) whose unique contributions bring this track alive.”
