Rising from Rising by Mavis Pan Quintet

Where you fall is where you get up. This piece was written during my flight to Saudi Arabia and dedicated to my long-time lyricist David Keyes, who had made this exotic trip to the Middle East possible. Steadily and slowly we are coming up to the horizon from the long hibernation since Covid. The music still ends on a high note even if the future is mysterious and unknown.

Mavis Pan is a composer, pianist, singer who presents a blend of East and West, Classical and Jazz, Sacred and Secular. Her travels throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States have gathered flavors of a multitude of cultures, now blended into her compositions, which range from popular to avant-garde, from ballad to art song, from solo instrumental to full orchestra.
