In real life, the space between the canopy and branches allows sunlight to gently filter through. In Japan, the dappled light this creates is called komorebi (pronounced koh-mo-reh-bee) and is made up of the kanji characters for tree (木), shine through (漏れ), and sun (日).
In late Decemeber of 2021 while on a countryside walk on an incredibly still day I came across a very peaceful mini forest that still had much of the fallen leaves from Autumn carpeting the forest floor.
The sun was low and the radiant beams of light really enhanced the already rich palette of vibrant tones at my feet.
I rested on a heavy fallen branch and sat for maybe thirty minutes as the sunlight crept between the trees.
That night I had an inspired moment, the music that developed is at first quite still/calm and gradually it shifts in tone & colour over its thirty minute duration.
The next day as I listened back to what I had written, it sort of felt as if I had composed a sonic snapshot of that peaceful thirty minutes in the forest.
