"Root" is a collection of three long generative synth-improvisations. Composed and recorded entirely using a modular synth, each piece of this low-key record is generative in nature, yet also rich in texture and has a distinct stereo-vibe: shifting tones, randomizing melodies, a slow, yet unpredictable pace. While there are certain melodies that seem to reappear after a while, there is in fact no exact repetition on this record at all as the subtle changes in sound and movement are forced by the randomizing machinery at the core of these improvisations. The recording itself could have taken on for hours without the interference of the human hand, who had set up the patches and pushed record and stop. The synthesizer would have otherwise played on forever.
