or lay a smooth path for your feet.
So you could walk upon it, to and fro, but no - it does not show.
The path's not to be seen, no - it will not show.

Then you decide to walk on water,
believing you are unblemished, a saint...
(well, clean for sure)
Somehow the water does not hold you,
and as you make your step and plunge into the water
you feel your foot's been pierced with pain,
that's one of all those stones you threw long time ago.
Now is the time for them to meet with you and pay you back.

Requital's done, but there's still lot of hidden pitfalls under water.
(those stones have formed a hidden reef for you to walk on them)
Tormented, you beg yourself to answer "Why is it so?" and "What for?"
But who could lift so complex reef?
