Backwaters by Mike Starling
Imagine yourself drifting down a lazy, shady slough, sun high in the sky, dragonflies darting in the breeze. Or watching a tugboat throw its spotlight on the nighttime river as it moves its barge cargo upstream. This is the sound of “Backwaters" by Mike Starling.
A suite of six loosely linked instrumental guitar ensemble pieces inspired by the natural beauty of the Upper Mississippi River Valley in the Driftless Region of the American Midwest.
For a limited time, the album is free to download. We ask that those who are able consider making a small donation to the Friends of the La Crosse River Marsh to help preserve the wetlands of western Wisconsin, one of the inspirations for this music.
