This is the first full length album that I ever made. I started recording these songs in the spring of 2008. My good friend Nick Falco, who was the vocal coach that I had been working with closely since the age of 13, had recommended that I record my new songs with his roommate Marc Bert who was a very talented recording engineer and with whom he shared an apartment in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.

I agreed, and after meeting Marc we quickly became friends. We spent many long nights recording these acoustic songs in his bedroom. He had a good selection of mics and really knew how to get a great guitar and vocal sound. I recorded all the guitars in his bedroom with him sitting off to the right of me at his mixing desk with his headphones on watching the wave forms closely on the PC monitor. Once I finished a guitar track, I'd quickly then go record the vocals in a tiny closet by the bathroom surrounded by shirts, jackets and dresses and I loved every minute of it. I really sang my ass off in that clothing closet.

After recording the first few tracks with Marc and putting together what would become the mini album Within These Walls in 2008, we were able to get a feel for each other and a sense of how we both liked to work. We then really got into a strong groove and were able to generate a vast wealth of material. Ultimately, we recorded about 30 plus tracks and chose these 12 from that batch. The other 18 were interesting exercises in songwriting and recording but for one reason or another just didn't make the cut. You know how it goes when you're starting out.

This was the first time I had the opportunity to work with a talented engineer that was equally as passionate about music as I was. Marc & Nick both taught me so much and I am forever grateful to them for giving me a way to realize my vision. I was a teenager at the time & was very naive to the wider world of music but I didn't care. I was making my music the way that I wanted and that was all that mattered.
