Get Busy by Mo Stanton

Mo Stanton’s first album on the Manatauck Music label, Get Busy is a collection of original songs covering themes of iconoclasm, freedom, social justice, and personal responsibility, leavened with Stanton’s droll humor. From the anthemic High Lonesome to the satiric romp Secret Santa, the album’s selections span genres from country rock to New Orleans funk. Not one to shy away from controversy, Stanton takes on embedded racism with Stonewall, black ops subterfuge with Liar’s Moon, and the tragedy of the COVID pandemic with Last Call. Actor and songwriter Jonathan Hogan’s tender love song Hold On To Me, Darling is given a poignant treatment in Stanton’s gravelly vocal and elegantly understated guitar. Echoing the urgency expressed in Louis Akins’ cover painting, Mo Stanton’s Get Busy speaks eloquently to the listener: live your life to the fullest – now – and make the living count.
