Out of my diary on 27th November 1990: I composed and wrote Wish last year in December 1989 because I was not only frustrated but also deeply saddened by the assassination of my unborn daughter Audrey by abortion four months into pregnancy. As for the music industry, I stay away from those criminal money launderers. I would never sign a contract with any of those. The criminal machinations of the German GEMA and the British and US American equivalents like ASCAP not only cost me an enormous amount of money but they literally tried to kill me. To this day I have not even received an official apology from anybody who was applauding and supporting the crooks who stole from me. Such a crime should not have been allowed, and because of fair play I would like all the money back including all royalties they stole from me, plus the interest and compound interest.
