Seeing Red from Pieces by Master Control Program

Although "seeing red" often refers to experiencing anger, I wrote and recorded this track immediately after an intense and scary episode of intrusive imagery brought on by extreme anxiety. Images of pulling my body apart, tearing out veins and organs, blood everywhere and absolute madness filled my mind with no way to stop it. In an effort to compartmentalize this episode and the accompanying feelings, I did what most of us would do and immediately made a song about it, and two hours later we have Seeing Red. The emotion you hear in my voice is raw and real. I thought about making some updates to lyrics and vocals, but I know I'd never recapture the feelings I had in that moment, especially the exhaustively long twenty-second no breath vocal finish.

Master Control Program is musical ejecta conceived, created, recorded, and produced by Jim Asta. This one-person project collects rocky sounds, envelops them in a tight gluten cloak, then processes them through the Maillard reaction for maximum flavor and texture. These jams are served hot locally and distributed worldwide on mostly clean plates at insultingly affordable prices.
