A collection of musical edits and original tracks, Ser is a hypnotic three part EP that merges Balkan and Middle Eastern motifs with techy grooves and bassy synths.
In Elevation, the female vocals and traditional instruments of a Sufi song are embedded in a loopy syncopation of electronic percussions and acid bass lines that keep evolving, climbing over the boundaries of reality and entering into heightened states of perception.
From the Rhodope mountains in Bulgaria, after which the track is named, the bittersweet melody of a gaita – somber and deep – sings tales of love and death. Meanwhile, a driving techno beat elevates the spirit and makes you want to dance. In the end, it's just you and the forest.
Tanoura, which refers to the clothing worn by Sufi whirlers, is an intense and energetic edit of Iranian singer Dhafer Youssef, perfect for the peak hour of the set. The track explodes with Sufi chants of sweet sorrow, a strong and powerful disco beat and a vocal that keeps you on the edge. At 110 bpm, it's a delicious techno groove with high tonics.
