NEAT make a welcome return to Exploited with 'Flamingo'; a record showcasing the versatility of the Stockholm duo across 3 disparate moods.
The title track kicks things off to a hazy and hypnotic start. Plumes of reverberated vocals and a mournful piano motif are ferried along by textural, organic percussion. As the track progresses, a more jagged vocal churns into the mix while a 909 hat locks in a steady, shoegazing groove.
'BraSex' follows up with a raw, forthright house groove guaranteed to wake up the floor. Jacking claps and snares are woven in lock step with a piano stab which is bolstered by a deep set sub. Woozy vocals, some synth stabs and subtle sax flashes season the track with an irresistible energy before 'Heart Life' adds a further facet to the EP with an allaying Italo-tinged groove.
A bustling bass line sits under neat, punchy drums as progress nudges towards a wide open breakdown. Expansive chords and airy vocals dash broad strokes of pastel colour across the record before the groove snaps back for a kinetic conclusion.
Daniel & Robert started NEAT in Roberts 1600 century basement in Stockholm, Sweden where they arranged illegal raves. In 2018 NEAT was reborn in an exciting live format. With primarily analog synthesizers, drum machines and effect gears from their music studio they play live at different clubs and raves in Stockholm.
