Here I stand
At the dawn of all creation
Carving words into sand
Leaving records
For some future civilization
About things I don’t understand

How could I see
The forest or the trees
From the bottom of a deep deep water

I can’t believe
Some spend eternity
Needing a drink when I’m in deep, deep water

Before we begin
All that has been
Ripples within
Without cognizance

Everything ends
Again & again
The ripples extend
Again & again

Racing toward the -

Here I hang on the edge of inspiration
Grasping at grains of sand
Praying for rapture in the face of tribulation
A renegade migration to a promised land

Why can’t I find it?
Why can’t I warm these bones?
Why do I wander like a stranger in my own home?

It’s a lazy battle
With a fickle shower head
It’s waking in slow motion
Punching pillows in a warm bed

Before we begin
All that has been
Ripples within
Without consent

Everything ends
Again & again
The ripples extend
And it never ends

Here I stare in the face of revelation
Without a leg to stand
Hallelujah to the god of resignation
My eyes are pulled from the sand

I am blinded by a light I can’t perceive
I am enlightened by devout uncertainty
I will rejoice upon the path ahead of me
Despite the signs for falling rocks and large debris
I will keep
