It's not the complexities of life that hold me back
It's not the practical, pragmatic traits that I lack
It's the overwhelming feeling of not fitting in
Of always sitting on the sidelines waiting to begin

And just when I thought I'd found someone
Who understood and loved me for who I am
They turned and ran
No explanation given or shown
To why I am always hearing their answerphone
And I feel alone again

I need to learn to stand on my own and be who I am
And people don't accept me then that's down to them
Although the idea seems very easy and nice and free
It's harder to wash ashore when you're so far out to sea

And just when I thought I'd figured it out
And was feeling more sure and less all full of doubt
What's it all about?
How can one person topple me down
Like a house made of cards in a lonely old ghost town
And I need to be found again

So I'm using my pain to write again
And for that I should thank you but if it's all the same
I'm leaving your game
And I hope that one day you will count the cost
And truly understand just what you've lost my friend
