I feel more sewn than I have ever known.
Pieces arrange in ways I once thought were strange.

Now is the time when I find myself in the ground,
air is so hot and the light is a torturous coat.
What lies beneath the subterranean shell I grow, I don’t want to know.

Born into darkness my life has been nothing but my eyes adjusting to light.
Then I feel a crack.
Armor fractures and I can see halves of my back.

I feel the creases in my wings as I accept the pieces, my soul sings in time.
An old encasing is all that’s left of my past embracing.
I’ve found new love.
