Olio Flux Unveils “PSA”: A Sonic Emergency Broadcast from the Edge of Ambient

Central Florida experimental sound sculptor Joel Gomer, known professionally as Olio Flux, today announces the release of his latest studio album, PSA, now available via Bandcamp.

With PSA, Joel answers his own sonic directives through an nine‑track broadcast of atmospheric urgency. This album channels drifting synthscapes, textured ambience, and sharp emotional inflections—melding serenity with an undercurrent of unease. Each composition feels like an aural announcement: an ambient public service announcement that both comforts and unsettles.

PSA marks a shift from previous space‑themed releases like Space is the Place (Feb 2025) and the introspective tones of Dolorous (Oct 2024). Here, Joel leans into tension and resolution, layering floating pads and echoing motifs with ghostly vocal samples, subtle percussive pulses, and penetrating ambient twists. The result is a sound journey that demands attention while offering immersive beauty.

I grow tired of screaming into the ether. To help alleviate some of my frustration I made an album about some subjects that stir me. Public Service Announcements is a collection of things important to me. They should be important to all of us, but what do I know? Maybe it will be enough of a seed of thought to plant in someone else. Maybe that person will share their thoughts with someone. Maybe those people will then be enough to help us make a difference.
