Bottling emotion in music is no mean feat. We’re talking about sounds that give you goosebumps, sounds that make you beam from ear to ear or feel as though you’re about to break down and cry.
Sydney/Eora producer Oliver Henry’s most recent piece “Brother” is the very definition of this. A soaring slice of electronic music inspired by listless walks through the streets of Tokyo. Listen closely and you’ll catch field recordings from these very trips in the track itself. Consisting of complex and incredibly moving layers of strings, pads and vocal samples, Oliver constructs a universe of sound that will dredge up the rawest of emotions – mostly thanks to breathtaking violin, saintly cries and unique liquidy percussion.
“Brother” is the next evolution in Oliver’s new body of work following the superb groove that is “What Could Have Been”. What’s next…? You’ll have to wait and listen.
