Liminality by 1kPieces
Liminality is the latest EP by Berlin-based composer 1kPieces, released on One Instrument.
1kPieces embodies a sound that envisions a tree breaking through a concrete wall, reducing it to fragments. Landscapes shift over time, like plants reclaiming space in defiance of the fleeting values of the modern world. Rejecting a centralized identity as a means of recognition, 1kPieces embraces fluidity.
Quasiperiodic wavetables are navigated to modulate matrix-interconnected oscillators and filters. Three distinct arpeggiators march asynchronously, shaping distant peaks and desaturated structures—brought to life through the layered timbres of the Waldorf Blofeld environment.
These four movements, bound by a single chord, emerge from a journey along the invisible border between simplicity and complexity. In the absence of higher orders, the liminal state reveals a future blurred by genuine transformation.
