'Kitchenhand' and 'Sister' were the first two songs on the 'Jewels' section of my 1997 album 'Soap, Stickers, Jewels'.
I wrote and recorded 'Kitchenhand' while making that record in the hot Adelaide summer of 1996. This version was recorded in late 2015 in Berlin.
'Sister' is a very old song; it appears on tapes I made as early as 1992 when I was still in school. There is something about its simplicity that I have always liked, so I recorded this version after 'Kitchenhand' in late 2015, which closely resembles the 'Soap, Stickers, Jewels' version.
Orphan Train Project is a musical journey that that began thirty years ago in the secluded hills above Adelaide, South Australia. First records were made on busted tape decks on a bedroom floor. Years passed. I lived in different places. All Orphan Train Project songs and recordings can be used under the Creative Commons Attribution licence.
