I hear the echoes as they’re creeping up on me
Slowly they evolve into a screaming symphony
I try to tame it, bring it under my control
But a tidal wave of music crashes down upon my soul

Words on the pages escape from my mind
And wisdom is leaving me behind
Why can’t I seize all these moments in time?
To let them go would be my biggest crime to all of mankind

The melodic passages, they flee my mind in haste
I have to seize them all, can’t let them go to waste
Time is not on my side and I don’t feel in control
The clock is ticking swiftly as I’m pouring out my soul

Words on the pages escape from my mind
And wisdom is leaving me behind
Black is the night and my mind is a maze
Lord of shadows, save me from this place

And so the darkness takes its toll
A storm of inspiration haunts my soul
Still my requiem must find its end before I meet my fate
The opus of my nightmare carries on

Voices from the past and future
Finding flaws in every move
Always preaching to the choir
Never trying anything new
I can’t distinguish my own voice from all the others
Screaming poison through my mind
I will carry on creating and try to leave this madness behind

Pressured by anxiety, I cannot see the answers
Scouring through my dreams to find the meaning of it all
What is the limit to the sounds of my creations?
What makes the children sing before they learn to crawl?

Who will play the final melody?
Who will write the final symphony?
Who will arrange the finale of my dreams?

Glorious sacred guardians
Faithful mine own soul and divine thy decree
Grant me thy harmony and raiseth thy voices
Then I shall giveth mine own final masterpiece to all

I’m still not finished, barely a single draft
No one can see me suffer, they only want my craft
My time is running out but the writing must be done
The exposition’s over and the coda has begun

Notes on the pages are gone from my mind
And wisdom has left me behind
I ponder the future with one final sigh
Could the opus still be finished if I die?

And so the darkness takes its toll

Still my requiem must find its end, even after I’ve found mine
Eternal nightmares taking their toll
