Innocent Pranks by Moa Pillar
Moa Pillar's soundtracks for Vladimir Kartashov's exhibitions are beatless home-listening material. Three ambient tracks best reflect his psychedelic side, where a deep effect is created with the most minimal palette. At times a listener has to wonder whether it's been 3 minutes or 30, and that is exactly the task Moa Pillar has outlined for himself here. In his own words: "the music has to happen and to live, but be motionless".
The first two compositions were written for the "Innocent Pranks" exhibition at Moscow gallery JART (https://jartgallery.art/en/shalost). They revolve around Kartashov's and Pereverzev's common interest in rococo, and the tracks are intricately woven out of grandiose harpsichord pieces and samples of an opera singer.
"Concert of Birds" soundtracked a different exhibition (of the same name), dedicated to ornithology and held in Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve (https://tsaritsyno-museum.ru/events/exhibitions/p/birds-concert/). It symbolizes the perception of birds as God's messengers and metaphors of the Kingdom of Heaven.
