'89 Toyota by Kamra
I was listening to 'Freak Like Me' by Caroline Rose in my truck on my way to rehearsal and began riffing about my truck over the rhythm. My truck was gifted to me by another small business owner to use in search of land to steward. I wrote the chords on the guitar, dropped a Travis Scott bassline into the mix, sprinkled atmospheres and synths throughout, and topped it off with a back country harmonica through the bridge held by pop motifs.

I grew up around my father spinning vinyl. I can still hear Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It" playing in my 4 year-old psyche. This sonic history reminds me of my roots as a Black American born to the projects of Minneapolis, Minnesota. While the tenure of my identity positions my movement around this planet, I feel a pull toward more formless approaches to being.
