Still Life by Personal Space
Brooklyn/DC-based band Personal Space are a conundrum: indie without a scene, prog disdaining complexity, a dad band without dads. Their forthcoming EP, Still Life, finds them crawling out of their pandemic cave and embracing an overarching complexity for us all; life on permanent hold.
It follows their 2021 LP, A Lifetime of Leisure, which found the band fretting over downward mobility, preoccupied with ethically sourcing their groceries, and hoping, against hope, that humanity can still find its way to a very chill, socialist utopia.
Still Life is the natural progression as Personal Space grapples with lost connections in a pandemic, tech-bro hustlers and finding the joy in our whirring 2022 realities. But whether they’re ripping off Third Eye Blind or doing their best Stereolab impression, Personal Space always brings their signature elixir to satisfy parched ears: dropped eighths, shimmering guitars, and a whole lot of skronk.
Still Life is out June 3rd on Good Eye Records.
