Timeless by Peter MacLachlan
Timeless is an album of melodies & airs that have been a part of western culture for centuries… I'd made an arrangement of Greensleeves a while back and so loved the process I thought I’d do the same with other melodies that I loved… to have them stir my heart and guide me to explore, and hopefully reveal, their beauty through orchestral arrangements...
It struck me how these melodies had survived for centuries, had touched countless hearts and yet, mostly, we do not know the name of those who wrote these gorgeous, timeless melodies.
The cover art is a painting of the Shanandoah Valley by American painter William Lois Sonntag from around 1860.
