Letters of Utrecht is one-man project based in Brisbane, Australia.
He uses live instrumentation together with found sounds, samples and VSTs to produce warmly undulating and occasionally ominous textures set against a background of primordial drones.
“I’ve played in various rock/metal/punk bands over the years but it was only with the relative ease (and cost effectiveness) of home recording that I started to take the initiative myself. This has coincided with a growing love of electronic, drone and ambient music over the last couple of years.
“I think all those influences are apparent in ep 01, more or less. I tried to keep a raw, semi-improvised edge so that while the work was somewhat planned, revised and refined, it was never done so to an insanely obsessive degree. If things started to feel right then I knew I was heading in the right direction, as trite as that sounds.”
All tracks written, performed & recorded by P A Buchanan from May – July 2012.
