Melatonia by Pausal
Credits
released August 14, 2020
Melatonia marks the seventh full-length release from the drone duo Pausal, celebrated for their work on labels including Barge Recordings, Students of Decay, Own Records, Dronarivm, and Infraction. Beyond their collaborative output, Alex has released extensively under his Olan Mill moniker, as well as under his own name, while Simon’s solo work has appeared on Hibernate Records.
The album emerged during a period of transition and upheaval for both members, dividing their time between the UK and Germany. True to their creative process, the music was born from extended improvisation sessions with a wide range of processed sound sources and instruments. Often unfolding late into the night, these sessions were guided by the intent to craft rich drone passages that unfold seamlessly with structural restraint and timbral subtlety.
Comprising six expansive compositions, Melatonia unfolds as a seamless, hour-long journey designed for deep and sustained listening.
All tracks written, recorded, and produced by Alex Smalley and Simon Bainton. Mastered by Porya Hatami, Sanandaj, Iran. Artwork by Natalia Bogdanova. Layout and design by zakè. © Past Inside the Present. This is PITP32. pastinsidethepresent.com / pitp.us
