Strength from Sincere Expression by Todd Marston, Justin Copeland

From composer, Todd Marston: I wrote this tune with Justin Copeland's sound in mind, shortly after playing our first gig together with Ron Steen. I remember being moved by Justin's beautiful tone and playing, but also his kindness and deep listening skills. One major theme that I've been interested in this year is that of connectivity or interconnectedness, so it feels fitting to perform this tune with Justin as we enter into the new year, the home stretch of the worst failed presidency of our lifetimes, and hopefully the home stretch of this pandemic.

PJCE Records is a grassroots recording label documenting the wide variety of original music being created by Portland area jazz composers and improvisers. We aim to provide an outlet to encourage the dissemination of new music in the area as well as fostering community within the jazz and improvised music scene in Portland. We release one album per month digitally and/or in limited CD pressings.
