DESOLATION LOVESONGS by Poppet
While driving home from the airport on a rainy night in February, crying over the renewed desolation of my heart and feeling a general sense of hopelessness, I put on an old break-up mix I had made for myself in the throes of letting go of a very formative relationship. The second track on the mix was a cover of Silver Dagger done by Seattle folk mastermind Jordan O' Jordan. I found myself yelling the lyrics along, and all at once realized that I had to do something with my devastation. In that moment, Desolation Lovesongs was born.
I am extremely grateful that out of the wreckage of my disenchantment with love, I could rebuild something less fleeting than the ruinous cycles I have been caught up in. In this way, I am indebted to those who have spurned my heart. Thank you.
