As the sun dips below the horizon, the air thickens as NEVER/SUN emerges. Rising from the ashes of teenage dreams and through the thorns of love-in-a-mist, this album is a visceral journey—a high-octane club night through memories, where every track acts as a remnant as well as a forecast for the future past.
Imagine the sun-bleached landscapes of the early 2000s, melodies of nu-metal in minor keys, and the polished chrome transients of early EDM all coming together in a soundscape that echoes the angst and ecstasy of youth. The basslines cut deep, reminiscent of first heartbreaks, and the beats weigh heavy, like the pulse of London nights. UK Garage rhythms permeate the air, carrying the smell of underground clubs and the intoxicating allure of drug-laced evenings in hazy apartments.
As the music unfolds, it paints a portrait of moments missed and moments wished forgotten. The muffled kicks crash like foaming waves on the shores of Paphos, and the sun glistens on the Mediterranean like gold foil over a carpet of pebbles—a refuge where animals understand and instances become eternal.
NEVER/SUN is steliosilchuk’s first solo album as a producer, in which he revisits his time spent in London, both emotionally and sonically. These thirteen tracks each mirror moments in time, one of which was written eleven years ago while he was still living in the UK. The album is a homage to feelings that still linger, meticulously and intuitively stitched into each song by steliosilchuk—a way of letting go, but never completely.
