Resonant Communion

Improvisations on solo piano and solo bass-flute.

An album filled with intimate, exploratory and passionate improvisation.
In playing piano I try to stay as open for ideas as possible, trying to dig in new territories on gesture, harmony, and space.
The Bösendorfer grand piano invited me to make use of the warmth and beauty of it’s sound more than ever.

Because the bass-flute is pretty big, it has a very enjoyable, full and warm voice that inspired me to focus on, and exploring certain aspects like wind, enharmonics, multiphonics, phasing with my voice while playing, etc. The pieces on flute are also inspired by the piano pieces that come before or after it.

The piece “Stumble upon Danny B” is technically a cover piece (Oh Danny Boy), but without the intention to do so. The music itself dictated me to follow this melody when it arose while playing.
