A Few Words Before We Begin.

I was raised between abandonment and abuse, with a father lost to the streets and a mother to the bottle. As an adult, I spent thirty years in two separate relationships marked by deception, control, and betrayal. Leaving each one was an act of desperation, and though the past still lingers, these works are my attempt to reclaim that history.

Every work in this collection is my own, except Broken Verses of Betrayal & Redemption (An Ode to Tennessee Williams), which is woven entirely from his play titles and dialogue. ISBN 978-0-9878284-8-4

Raymond Helkio (they/them) is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design, whose work has been shown at Inside Out Film Festival, Buddies In Bad Times Theatre, Design Exchange, Videofag, Art Gallery of Ontario, Glad Day Bookshop, Artscape and Nuit Rose. They also host Poetry Open Mic at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre and are an associate member of the League Of Canadian Poets.
