“The first Christian chapel in Gällivare municipality, located in the vicinity of Nábrreluokta, was burned to the ground in 1650 by rebellious and angry Sámi teenagers. This act marked the first notable instance of direct resistance against the new and intrusive religion in the northern Sápmi area. ‘Skälmit’ is dedicated to all those who have resisted and fought against the Lutheran
imposition, both past and present, in Sápmi/Meänmaa.”
“Skälmit” is the third transmission from Sámi black metal entity, Djuasa. Dedicated to the history of Sámi resistance to Christian colonizers, “Skälmit” is an explosion of raw blackened punk energy with lyrics performed in Meänkieli and Sámi.
Limited to 60 hand-numbered pro-dubbed black cassettes with A/B pad-print and four-panel J-card.
