Cock Rock by The Vovos

Bursting out of Melbourne with gritty joy, The Vovos deliver a wild cocktail of raw-alt energy, punk sparkle and unapologetic fun. Their sound channels the immediacy of live chaos — that feeling when the amps are cranked, the rhythm’s untamed and everything’s propelled into motion.

On Cock Rock, they turn the dial up: it’s loose, it’s loud, it’s playful but fierce. The songs are sharp-edged but joyful, full of swagger, hooks and mess-in-a-good-way. Whether it’s “What?”’s brisk hit-and-run attack or “Bobby Pins”’s more expansive riffing, there’s a sense that the band are inviting you into their racket and daring you to grin along. They’ve taken the live might of their set and captured it in spades, making this EP feel both unpolished (in the best way) and entirely alive.
