Ataraxia by Josh Richardson
Credits
released May 11, 2018
Ataraxia is a four song ambient album based on the Ancient Greek concept meaning ‘a state free from worry, or anxiety.’ It was created using an electric guitar (a piano can also be heard on one track) through a real time process of layering loops, altering their duration, phasing, and frequencies.
This recording follows Richardson’s 2017 ambient album “Spheres,” which Exclaim called “a gorgeous, soothing work.” His 2016 album “Black Country” was described by the CBC as “dream like.”
The album art is a photograph taken by the artist of a sunset viewed from Scotch Mountain, Ontario, during the Electric Eclectics Festival in August of 2017.
All songs by Josh Richardson, 2018
Recorded & Mixed by Josh Richardson
