for "rain" i returned to the earliest method i discovered of making accidental loops. my loop pedal has a maximum loop time of 20 seconds. if i hold the pedal down longer the pedal automatically starts to overdub what i'm playing over what i already played. by doing this with the volume down, i can't hear how the parts fit until i finish and turn it up. such loops don't change as they repeat so the potential for boredom led me to discover several other ways of making accidental music. but sometimes simple is just what i'm looking for.

the field recording is of an early morning shower from my screen porch.

My music is created very simply using improvisation, chance procedures or accidental means. I also do a lot of field recording and sound experiments using natural forces to create sound. I used to be a singer/songwriter in a past life, but every caterpillar has its day...
