A Halloween treat, an instrumental theme song, taken from the 1973 UK Cult classic Biker/Zombie/Horror (and sometimes considered comedy!) film ‘Psychomania’ (also titled ‘The Death Wheelers’) starring Nicky Henson, Beryl Reid & George Sanders. Original score by John Cameron.
True horror/soundtrack nerds will note that there are 2 versions of these songs 1: the original score that is actually heard in the film 2: A 1973 45 RPM release. Recorded under the band name FROG, both written/produced by J. Cameron and featuring some England’s top session musicians of the 60’s/70’s playing on both versions.
The Sister Midnight interpretation is a bit of a combo of these versions, since both have their own charm & sonic differences. The single version of ‘Witch Hunt’ is a haunting & moody groover that alway drew me in to this film whenever it was shown on late night TV in the 1970’s. With it’s eerie Hamond B3 organ laden creep, along with the defacto B-Movie funkadelic Wah-Wah, Bongos and Fuzz guitar licks and demonic/angelic Female choir backing vocals. Still one of my fave films of all time, regardless of the high Cheese content.
