outer signals from static by root in still water

a week went by, i kept starving myself, i didn't sleep a single hour.
i'm a ghost now. people are robots. the world is crushing me with its weight.
i'm scared. of this world, of these people. i left the house without cash or my cellphone.
every emotion inside me was stripped away, i was just empty canvas.
i hated everything and everyone. the hatred kept growing.
eventually reached my spot. glad it hasn't changed one bit. used to go here every summer.
watching the city, seeing the still fireflies in the distance light up.
but i didn't go there yet, i stopped at the bridge. this bridge that stood over the highway.
i approached the railing, still soaking wet. and then i just.. leaned onto it and kept staring at the road.
didn't move an inch. my eyes still. my mind was a mess, thought crashed into thought, one smeared the other.
but i knew one thing for sure. the escape was right in front of me.
i kept looking for reasons to stay. none proved worthy. the cars streaked by on the tiny sheet of water.
i was one thought away from the conclusion until something snapped me out of it.
a van driver honked. i saw him wave at me. i knew it was at me cause he looked up.
another car followed, the driver honked too.
my eyes started snapping from car to car, every third or fourth one had the driver looking up at me.
took a deep breath. people noticed me. i guess they weren't robots after all.
pulled out my teddy bear from before. kept holding it tight.
i'm going home. it's pointless. it's not worth it.
