In this album, "Rangana Rengum", Visharada Sadhana Ranatunga sings some of the most popular golden oldies of Sri Lanka sung by her grand mother Kalashuri Wasantha Sandanayake (See: "Reminiscences of an Evergreen Artist" http://saatunes.blogspot.com/2011/11/wasantha-sandanayakes-grand-daughter.html ).
Also included in this album are a number of Sadhana's new songs. Her husband Nanditha Ranatunga joins her in the duets.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Visharada Sadhana Ranatunga represents the third generation of a family of singers. She is the grand daughter of the celebrated yesteryear songstress Kalashuri Vasantha Sandanayake who sang the most number of memorable songs on Buddhist and patriotic themes from the 1930s.
Sadhana started her musical career by singing as a little child at Radio Ceylon’s Lama Mandapaya. Today she is the visiting Music teacher at the Royal College primary, Colombo. And also she conducts music classes at the Amara-Daya Arts Foundation conducted by legendary musicians Prof. Amara Ranatunga and Dr. Dayaratne Ranatunga.
Her mother, Daya Hemantha Abeysekara, is a renowned playback singer while her father, Shanthi Abeysekara, is a well known yesteryear film actor, director and producer.
Sadhana's husband Nanditha Ranatunga is the son of renowned musicians Amara and Dayaratne Ranatunga. Himself a talented tabla player, Nanditha Ranatunga partners with Sadhana in the duets. Their sons Oshada and Shashika study at the Royal College, Colombo.
Visharada Sadhana has authored a textbook on classical music that could be especially beneficial to first and second year students reading for the Visharada exam.
