Credits
released December 3, 2021
In Nina Simone’s Gum (2021), Nick Cave's partner in crime, fellow Bad Seed and back-turning veteran of The Dirty Three, Warren Ellis: ‘I wanted the narrative to be in free flight all the time…so you didn’t know what it was exactly, because I didn’t.'
Body Down (Live) is an intimate studio performance recorded at St. Mary's Space, Appin, in a day's recording session, in April, 2021. The tumbling song cycle of experiments and intensities on autoharp, mandolin, hand drum, guitar, voice, harmonium, bones & rain shaker lend the album a primal emotional landscape, and a Southern Gothic vibe, which echoes the deluge of rain which fell for three days solid. Track 8, "Blue Valentine" (String Reprise) feat. Glasgow-based composer Dr Rūta Vitkauskaitė's violin, was used on the official music video, set in the wilds of Glencoe, directed by Scottish filmmaker, founder of Wild Room, and BAFTA New Talent Awardee, Simone Smith.
