I was touching myself in the bedroom

It's nice to see the people you love
Doing what they want to do

I held you like an idea

There are all these places i love

You were cutting some wood with a handsaw
To build a bench in our backyard
It's nice to see the people you love
Finding joy in working hard
You held two pieces together
And then you struck a nail through
Now when i sit there watching the squirrels
I feel like i'm held by you

I was keeping an eye out the window
All in awe and very still
I watched a goldfinch
That had landed on the windowsill
Then another one came
And it ate from the first one's mouth
And in that little moment
I had everything figured out
I had everything figured out

The goldenrod and the asters
The tomatoes and the basil too
It's nice to feel the people you love
Opening your eyes for you
We saw a fox in the backyard
Then a couple weeks later we saw two
Now every morning when we wake up
We look to see what's passing through
