Do you remember Houston
It’s midwinter air on our Midwestern skin
Just warm enough we couldn’t hide our grins
Anywhere we went
We begged to sit outside

There were palm trees and cobblestones
A combination you don’t find back home
Buildings scraped the sky but folks moved slow
We took our cue from them and then
We took our time

Maybe the breeze was easy
Maybe the moon was high

Sunken chairs at that front porch bar
The customary flag with it’s single star
A corner singer with an old guitar
Asked us to sing along
