'Sleeping Beauty #1' was recorded in one go on my phone, late one night in London 2014. at a time of much travel and heartbreak. it didn't make the record and i've never tried to re record it, though it's always been a personal favourite.

in a pinch as usual at the time, i went out one night on a hit of mdma to touchy mobs rehearsal space way out in schönefeld berlin. the idea was that i'd stay there alone til i came back with a handful of promising demos. i got super high from the hit and it was hard to do anything but buzz. all i came back with in the morning was 'Promises demo #1', which i wrote on top a loop of the first two bars of 'My Old Piano'.
i'm absolutely in love with this first iteration of the song, which i believe to be completely it's own thing on top the chords and energy of the Diana Ross/ Chic classic although obviously we didn't even try releasing it like this due to the sample.

other death was recorded entirely in LA while agor and i lived in a little flat in santa monica that has since been demolished.
we got up and smoked a joint on the empty winter beach every morning before heading back to work. perhaps wouldn't do it that way today haha.
these demos are mostly from berlin and edmonton besides sos and uni

i love the album, and it reminds me of a crazy time, how different from today ten years ago feels. these demos really take me there in a way i sometimes forget.
