Dark Woods by Second Reality

You woke up in your bed in the middle of the night. The first thing you notice is posters of your favorite bands and movies hanging on the wall.

You don't remember the day before, or the days before that, for that matter. This night you have woken up to is like a lonely floating island in the night sky.

You sit up in bed and look around the room. The only sounds you hear are the crickets outside, and if you listen closely, the high frequency from your TV with the game console still on. "PRESS START" appears on the screen, along with graphics of the main characters in the game. Thin black lines slowly scroll down the screen over the character graphics.

You think about your parents and are about to look for them when you notice that the house is empty. It’s not as if the house has been abandoned, but it feels like no one has ever lived here except you, sealed inside your room. Still, you feel anxious from the atmosphere this night brings, and you want to find your parents.

As you go down the stairs, expecting to at least see someone you know, you find no one. Just the moonlight shining through the living room window, hitting the coffee table and the TV in the corner. As you see your reflection in the black screen, you realize that you can’t remember what your parents look like. The unease grows stronger, and you run out the door and into the street to find them.
