Shattered Sun by Segadeath
2152 is when the sun vanished. It fizzled out in a matter of hours. No warning. Just a hiss and a pop and our skies went dark.
With most of the atmosphere already gone through pollution and global warming the better part of humanity lived in company owned bio-domes and underground cities and were spared the permafrost claiming the surface. The irony of saving ourselves by destroying our planet was not lost on us.
As a new ice age dawned upon humanity the great underground cities owned by four mega corporations, closed their doors and a mass cryo stasis was initiated that sealed millions in an icy tomb far beneath the surface.
With the center of our solar system gone and no gravitational pull to keep our planet in orbit, it rocketed off into the vast reaches of space. With nothing to slow our momentum the Earth traveled through deep space for a thousand years in a straight line. Until finally the Earth was pulled into a very wide orbit in a twin star system.
KL-1742 as we named it is a binary system with a type A (Acis) and a type M (Galatea) class star in very close orbit. The Dancing Suns.
Whether it was luck or fate the new orbit the Earth found itself in made conditions on Earth slowly return to what they once were. The rising of surface temperatures activated the machinery that started the slow process of re-awakening the inhabitants of the underground cities. First it awakened the ceo’s and leaders of the four mega corporations, who used this head start to once again plant themselves in control over vital resources. Each city produced a singular resource ensuring no one corp could ever grab absolute control.
You were part of the first group of workers awakened. The vultures. A large squadron of small freighter and fighter vessels whose main purpose is to scavenge the surface and immediate space around Earth for any resources.
