Meditations by Seren Stevenson

With Meditations, I wanted to dedicate a whole album to music and to sound itself.
I chose not to record my own playing, but rather to let the music "compose itself" through mechanisms outside of my control with the Electro-Harmonix Random Tone Generator.
Naturally, I retained control over every parameter outside of the pitches being outputted by the RTG, so was able to shape and design each piece in real time, leaving more or less of the resulting soundscape to chance, depending on the piece.

This collection of pieces is an exploration of what music means to me.

This album is composed entirely of pieces recorded with the RTG, run through several effects: the MXR analog chorus and Carbon Copy delay (on Veneration, Introspection and Orison), the Moogerfooger ring modulator and the Carl Martin Headroom spring reverb. No other instruments or effects were used.

All pieces are single takes recorded in late March 2025.
