I look down and see
A small newt in a stream
And it looks up back at me
I sit down and stare
It vanishes in air
Soon I forget it was there
Now there’s a place
In some empty space
Where myself laughs in my face
Some clouds patch the sky
Touch them if you try
You won’t feel the sun go by
Now that I’m here I find
This place that lies behind
The red curtain in my mind
An idea caught my ear
The newt mustn’t hear
And I turn away in fear
