The multi-aliased head of a label which was groundbreaking at the time that it appeared, FOTOshoppeツ excels at innovating within concepts, working with visual aesthetics that border the realm between nostalgia and oddity to create something truly amazing. Along with this, their style has advanced and changed several times throughout the years spanning their work, with "PowerMac 8500" taking an interesting look at melding the conceptual construction of "Floral Shoppe" and its tribute albums with a mallsoft sound, looking at the idea not just from a different radial angle, but from another perspective entirely.
Along with this, their release of this album boasts what is almost an excess of sound to be explored, leaning into the relaxing properties of the style it is working with in order to provide as much value in a stretch of time as it can. Just on its own, "PowerMac 8500" provides nearly two hours of partially ambient, partially muzak bliss to ride through, with even more additional tracks which were made exclusively for the cassette release.
From front to back, "PowerMac 8500" is an accomplishment in the discography of FOTOshoppeツ's main alias, worth listening thoroughly from back to front despite how daunting its offerings may seem at first.
